Helping Syrian Refugee Camps, March 2016

His Holiness Pope Francis dedicated the start of the Year of Mercy on December 8, 2015.  On that day he said “The Holy Year of Mercy is dedicated to living out in our daily lives the mercy which God constantly extends to us.  Do deeds of mercy in word, prayer and action for those in need and for your neighbors.”

In keeping with the year of mercy and Pope Francis’ words our parish community of St. Linus and St. Patrick participated in collecting and donating clothes, toys, shoes and blankets during the weekends of February 27 & 28 and March 5 & 6.  During these two weekends our community came together and donated over 400 bags and 25 large boxes of clothes, toys, shoes and blankets.  On Saturday Marcy 12, 2016 volunteers packaged all the goods and shipped them to the organization NuDay Syria in Nashua, New Hampshire.  NuDay Syria will ship what we have collect to the Syrian refugee camps just outside of Syria.
